“A Day in the Life” with illustrator and graphic designer Scott Allen Hill

Scott Allen Hill always wanted to be an artist. He came into the world with skis on his feet, a camera around his neck and a pencil in his hand.

Scott’s artistic talents took him from photographing race cars, models and food (yum, yum) to pretty much everything else, but eventually he ended up drawing the characters of Lulu and Maxwell as his first attempt. of children’s book. Regardless of the medium, he thinks like an artist, he acts like an artist (he can be a little dramatic at times), and he sees the world like an artist.

For years I called him to say, “Scott, I need you to draw this to accompany something I’m writing,” and within hours he responded to my request. To this day, he still makes these fantastic creations for our promotions, fan appreciations, etc.

The craziest thing about Scott’s illustrations is that he only draws using his computer mouse. Her process is amazing to watch and extremely time consuming. Other artists are impressed by his technique. Unfortunately, while creating our MONDAY book, his program crashed, and since his work wasn’t saved, he had to redraw half of the book from memory. He ended up redesigning it in half the time it took to create the original. He is just so good!

I hope you appreciate all the time, effort, love and attention to detail (as seen in the many aquarium creatures) that Scott has put into our series to make it the best series ever. Canadian children’s books. Check out some of his earlier works by heading to the “Cookie Crumbs” tab on our website.
