CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Remember Paige Walker?
For Valentine’s Day, the 5th grade artist drew custom, personalized cards for each of her classmates at Granite Falls Elementary School – 23 portraits, from her heart, for each classmate.
I wrote about Paige here, and you’ve shared with over 200,000 people.
She received many responses and felt good.
A graphic designer named Joey Ellis saw the message.
He was impressed, messaged me, then messaged Paige’s mom – who was named in the story – and asked if he could send Paige an art gift.
“In late March, Paige received a vintage ’90s zipper pouch that included pens and drawing supplies from Joey’s own studio,” Miranda Walker said. “He also included professional drawing paper for her to draw on and several books, including one of hers! But what we loved most was his heartfelt letter to her. You You can tell Joey really loves what he does and appreciates Paige’s work.

“Paige is such a simple girl and what she’s done still doesn’t seem worthy of all the recognition,” Miranda said. “She just wanted to create unique cards for her classmates. But she appreciates it all and lit up when she walked through Joey’s present. The support from those who have seen his cards is truly remarkable. It will be an unforgettable memory for my daughter.
