Hybrid edition of SIGGRAPH Asia 2021 to bring the computer graphics community together in December

The SIGGRAPH Asia 2021 in-person event in Tokyo, Japan is confirmed and will take place from December 14-17 at the Tokyo International Forum. Japan has continued to hold trade events and exhibitions throughout the year adopting a wide variety of security measures. The organizers therefore have the confidence to host SIGGRAPH Asia in a hybrid format this year. Given the evolving Covid-19 situation, event organizers will also have a selection of conference programs accessible online with networking opportunities for international attendees who may not be able to travel.

Some of the world’s biggest brands such as Adobe Research, Amazon Web Services, Autodesk, Bandai Namco, Digital Hollywood University, FORUM8, IMAGICA GROUP, Khronos Group, PIXAR and SideFX have already confirmed their participation.

“FORUM8 participated in SIGGRAPH Asia 2018 in Tokyo, 2019 in Brisbane and Virtual Event 2020 as an exclusive platinum sponsor. We have confidence in SIGGRAPH Asia 2021 and again committed our support from the beginning as a platinum sponsor SIGGRAPH Asia is the must-attend computer graphics event in the region, and we certainly won’t want to miss out,” said FORUM8 President Yuji Ito.

Ito added, “We are delighted to announce that Sony Group Corporation Executive Vice President and CTO, Toru Katsumoto, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the event. Many other leading industry figures and experts will be announced in the near future. The call for applications for the conference programs is ongoing and has also gathered very encouraging figures. There will be plenty of cutting-edge content showcased at the event.

“The past 18 months have been a series of challenges and soul-searching for all of us, and I believe everyone is looking forward to in-person events resuming this year. The safety of all attendees is our utmost concern, but with large-scale events in Tokyo like the Olympics taking place safely, organizers and attendees are guaranteed that the local event can go ahead. The only uncertainty at this time is how many international attendees can physically join us due to travel restrictions and quarantine requirements,” said Shuzo John Shiota, SIGGRAPH Asia 2021 Conference Chair.

“With this beyond our control, we have decided to have a select range of programs accessible online for our international attendees who may not be able to travel. With a team of very dedicated professionals working hard tirelessly, I am confident to bring an amazing hybrid edition to the community in December. We look forward to seeing you at the industry’s most anticipated meeting! Shuzo added.

More details on the program and registration ticket prices will be announced in August. Registration for the event will open in September.
